As of Fall 2026, Flanders Kennels owns three Mastiff studs: Theo, Rex, and Hru. All are registered with AKC and fully health tested, or will be in the coming months. In addition, I own breeding rights to the Mastiff sires, Draco and Martok, both AKC-registered and fully health tested, and a Boerboel stud, Woody, AKC, UKC, and WBBA-registered and fully health tested. Draco
Flanders Draconis Borealis, “Draco”, was born on Valentine’s Day in 2017 and true to his birthday, this guy is an absolute lover. Draco is a well-built 150 lb. dark fawn brindle Mastiff, and stands 29″ tall at the withers. He is the clingiest Mastiff I have ever owned and absolutely loves people, and regards nearly everyone he meets as a friend. He loves nothing more than to grab random objects and bring them to you, as presents. He has a stunning coat, beautiful topline, nice head, and is very agile. He’s not the most intelligent dog and he’s a big jerk to other male dogs, but Draco is nearly 10yrs old and still has incredible movement and drive. Draco is a testament to my commitment to health and longevity in my breeding dogs. He is a wonderful farm dog that is gentle with livestock and protective only when necessary. Theo
Theodore William Keath, “Theo”, was born April 4, 2019, and is a very well-constructed, AKC Mastiff. I acquired him as a full-time resident here in Winter 2025, but used him for a litter in 2023. He is a very active farm dog with an absolute heart of gold and the most rock-solid temperament I have ever seen in a Mastiff. He is very gentle with children and all other animals, including livestock, and has no prey drive. He loves to meet new people and be spoiled, but is also appropriately protective around strangers. Theo is a smaller, working Mastiff, standing 27″ at the withers and weighing 115lbs. He has sired two massive litters of pups and consistently throws healthy pups, larger than himself. Theo was OFA tested for hips, elbows, patellas, and heart and passed all, at age 4. At age 7, he is still very active and is showing no signs of slowing down. Hru
Jellico Creek Hru To You Too, “Hru”, was born 10 March 2025, and is a large fawn AKC Mastiff. I purchased him as a breeding prospect in 2026 and he is a quarter relative to my retired dam, Halley, who had very good health testing results, nice stature, and a solid temperament. Hru is still growing, but he is already a massive boy, standing 31″ at the withers and 160lbs of very lean weight. Hru’s temperament nearly mirrors Theo’s. Very balanced, loves meeting new people and being an attention-whore, gets along well with most other dogs, very gentle with livestock, and not easily rattled. Hru is very clever and a good problem solver. He loves to cuddle and give kisses. When I think of the term “gentle giant”, Hru fits that description perfectly. Hru will be health tested in Spring 2027 and will eventually be used to sire a litter if his results are favorable. He has already had Embark DNA tested done, with nothing of concern on his report.
Rex
Cook’s Heart Of The Lion, “Rex” was born 20 Sept 2022 and is a gorgeous apricot AKC Mastiff. Rex was surrendered to me in Spring 2025 and was a foster that became my first ever foster fail rescue. I can’t express how much I love this boy, other than to say, that in over 25yrs of rescuing and fostering, he’s the first boy I ever had to keep for myself. Rex has nice size and excellent movement. He can be a bit of a butt to some other dogs and his prey drive is insane, but his cuddle game is next level, and I feel a bond with him I’ve not felt with another dog, since my first Mastiff, Orion, who began my journey with this breed that I can’t imagine not owning for the rest of my life! He loves me with all of his heart and tries so hard to please me, and is very protective of me. I don’t have any plans to breed him, at this time, but maybe, down the road, when he’s a senior, I may find it worthwhile to health test him and pair him with the right bitch.
