This page will serve as a photo dump and provide information regarding whelps at Flanders Kennels, past, present, and future. Whelps will leave Flanders Kennels to go to their new homes no earlier than 9 weeks of age. This provides enough time for the pups to have received two rounds of 5-in-1 vaccine, dewormer, and receive critical socialization training with the dam and with my other dogs. All puppies sold will have received a veterinary examination and certified in good health before they will be released to a new owner. Puppies sold at Flanders Kennels may either include FULL or LIMITED registration with AKC (Mastiffs) or NABBA, WBBA, or AKC (Boerboels), based upon health scores of the sire and dam used. Limited registration will be assigned to all pups old until it is proven that the dog has completed health testing and has acceptable scores to be used in a breeding program. Details can be found in the CONTRACT section. Any pup exhibiting a trait that makes it unfit for breeding may be sold at a discounted price. All pups will be microchipped prior to release from Flanders Kennels. Please provide your microchip number to your veterinarian and local animal control as soon as possible, so that information gets attached to your name and address. Pups will be started on a quality kibble at around 3 weeks of age and should be transitioned to a similar quality large breed adult or all life stages kibble no later than 12 weeks of age. It is critical that giant breed puppies not be fed puppy formula kibble beyond 12 weeks of age (unless the formula is specifically built for giant breed puppies). This can cause irreparable bone and tissue damage. Giant breeds need to grow as slowly as possible, so choose a feed that contains no more than 1.2% calcium and no more than 1.0% phosphorus content (or in that ratio, with Ca not exceeding 1.5%). Protein level in kibble need not be over 26% and choose a feed that contains added taurine for heart health, does not contain corn, soy, or wheat fillers, and is fortified with omega-3 and 6 fatty acids. Check out dogfoodadvisor.com for a list of 4 and 5-star rated feeds. All pups sold will leave with a puppy collar, small bag of dog food, copy of veterinary examination, puppy vaccination booklet, and digital copies of photos taken of the pup at weekly intervals. NOTE: Pups may or may not have tails docked and dew claws removed, based on demand from buyers on the waitlist. Anyone wishing to have these elective procedures performed may have to select a puppy prior to 3 days of age, as these procedures cannot be performed past that age.
